2000 Finest featured a 24 pack box with 5 cards per pack with a SRP of $3.25. Finest HTA (Home Team Advantage) boxes were 12 packs with 11 cards per pack with a SRP of $9.99. A special PSA redemption card /10 was inserts into packs of 1:12278 HTA which could be redeemed for a graded rookie subset.

The set consists of 205 cards, with 125 base cards and 80 short print cards. 40 rookie cards serial numbered /2400, 30 Inherent Fire dual player cards, and returning for a second year 10 Gems. Rookies have odds of 1:11, Inherent Fire 1:8, and Gems 1:24.

2000 marks the debut of the venerable Finest Moments insert set which would run until 2013. Other inserts included NFL Europe's Finest, Out of the Blue, and Superstars. Parallel inserts of the Finest Moments set includes Refractors, and box topper Jumbos.

Finest introduces the first of the modern day "hits": autographed Finest Moments and Finest Moments Pro Bowl Jerseys.
